May 15, 2015 Adams Co, Colorado Tornadoes

A day that looked to have a lot of tornado potential ended up being a rather low end event. I opted to stay in Colorado to let the elevation and dynamics do their magic. Sure enough, one storm coming out of south Denver dropped a large cone tornado and had a persistent funnel cloud for several minutes before evaporating. We then played with some minor storms in Nebraksa before calling it a night.

  • Near Wiggins looking south at the massive meso.
  • Going south looking at this great supercell.
  • Large cone tornado well to our south in the rain.
  • Tornado lifted, but the wall cloud was persistent.
  • It eventually morphed into this funnel.
  • The RFD from that earlier tornado was now ripping the base to shreds, except for the funnel.
  • The funnel lasted several minutes, not moving fast at all.
  • Supposedly, it did touch down briefly.

  • Once the funnel dissipated, there was nothing left of the storm. Barely and precip.
