  • On the night of October 22, near the stroke of midnight, a small storm blossomed north of Amarillo, Texas. As the storm fed on chilly but moist air, it occasionally spit out some lightning. For a while, I thought the low clouds would totally obscure the view. But there was enough of a gap that I was able to get my absolute favorite type of picture; visible lightning and a starry sky.
