April 8, 2013 East Colorado Supercell
This was day 2 of our trip, yet it disappointed me a lot. The system was ejecting over the Plains with a lot of power. Sadly the southern part of this system, where moisture was the best, sat under a strong nuclear cap. So we opted to stay west in the higher elevation in Eastern Colorado. While storms were able to fire, the lack of moisture and a good low level jet was once again the cause of a poor day. Although one storm did look good and dropped a brief tornado, we were in the middle of re-positioning and missed it.
